On March 14, Year 5 travelled to Southfields Academy where they were faced with a wide range of real life scenarios which required them to work as a team and to think on their feet. They worked through what they had to do if they were to attend a casualty on the street or help an elderly neighbour, to name but two of the possible situations. There were twelve stations and each station was run by professionals from a vast range of services, from fire fighters, police officers and first aiders to community officers, nurses and the RNLI.
All the children were really engaged and thoroughly enjoyed learning about how to act in challenging situations and now feel better equipped to deal with similar situations if they were to arise in future.
