Year 4 were treated to a visit from our own Mrs Gates last Friday. Not only is she the lovely mummy of Edward and Rachel, our marvellous POD lead and an allround supersonic busy lady but she has another claim to fame. She is also, in fact, from the land of giant red dragons and fluffy white sheep, where songsters are bred and thespians bellow across Mount Snowdon in the beautiful countryside of Wales!
Yes, we had a real live Welsh speaker who came in to share aspects of her culture with our Year 4 pupils on St David’s Day. This is a feast day to celebrate the patron saint of Wales, so we feasted on Bara brith and heard wondrous things about St David and this spectacular land. Thank you Mrs Gates, we’re working hard to impress you with our pronunciation of ‘Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch’ – we’ll keep you posted.
